The History of Radio

Of course I can’t cover the history of radio in just a sentence or two. I can tell you one of the first radio stations on planet earth to actually broadcast over the air was KDKA in Pittsburgh. They are still on the air. You can visit their website at http://www.kdkaradio.com/

Check out a little piece of Pennsylvania history.

Comments are always welcome. If you have a little piece of radio history you would like to share or maybe you know something about KDKA you would like to feature here, add your comments.

Growing up as a teenager in South Central Pa

In the 60’s I was a regular Saturday attendee to firehalls and other clubs that catered to local teenagers for dance and music. A place called the Raven in Harrisburg housed probably the best memories I ever had. The Magnificent Men played there and they also had Motown groups there. The building is still there although they sell kitchen supplies now. The music must still ring in those walls. It was a great time. I will bet if you go there late at night when it is quiet, you can hear “Peace of Mind.” I wonder if anyone has pictures of the Raven when it was all about the music?

The website is brand new, with a great new look.

How does everyone feel about the look and feel of the website? I have tried to make it as easy to read, easily accessable and something we, as Pennsylvanian’s can be proud of. Your coments and questions are certainly welcome.
